“ÒWE is inspired by meditations on Yoruba proverbs, proverbs which act as an archive of ancestral knowledge, intuitions, and values of Yoruba people. This solo seeks to decode a fragmented, personal archive and observe it through the scope of the more objective cultural and historical archives. It uses personal and found archival material as concept, visual design and soundscape, with an energetic blend of traditional and contemporary movements.

“Óró is a live theatrical experience, fusing contemporary dance, theatre, music, poetry and visual art to tell a story about language, identity and survival.”

The piece was devised by the company, with invited artists from Scotland, Cornwall, The Basque Country and Friesland. It was performed in an empty factory space in an all-Irish speaking Gaeltacht village in the West of Ireland.
